You have a variety of options when it comes time to choose a training program if you are interested in the KCPD. You can choose between Recruit training, Professional training, Drivers training, or the Leadership academy. Here are some key features for each program. Find out how each program will benefit you. Recruit training

To qualify for Kansas City Police Academy recruit training, all interested applicants must take a polygraph examination. You must also possess a high school diploma, or GED, and you must be 21 years of age. In addition, applicants must meet the age requirements for being a citizen of the United States and a resident of Kansas City at the time of hire. All potential officers must be physically as well mentally as must pass a background inspection, medical, and psychological examination. They must complete their training before they can begin work as a sworn KCPD Officer.

The Kansas City Police Academy's 174th entrant officer group is currently preparing to enter the field. The Missouri Department of Public Safety certified the academy's instructors through its Peace Officer Standards and Training Program. They also have a background in law enforcement and have had a lot of real-life experience. Recruit training at the Academy requires a high level of dedication and commitment to the police profession.

Professional training

The Kansas City Police Department offers professional training in a variety of fields, including criminal investigation and patrol. While officers in the department start their careers as patrol officers, there are many opportunities to progress. The department also employs special units, including sex crime, domestic violence, vehicular crimes, and crimes against children and gang violence. There are also periodic trainings for the public. The academy is strongly committed to driver training. It hopes that some of its student pilots will go on to the police force. How can recruits get the most out of this experience? The Kansas City Police Department runs the academy. The academy offers continuing educational classes, driver’s training, firearms, and traffic safety classes. Non-KCPD personnel may also attend these classes. Non-KCPD personnel are subject to a training fee. In fiscal years 2013, and 2014, over 1,100 non-KCPD attendees attended classes. The academy rents its facilities out to law enforcement agencies outside of the academy, including the Jackson County Department of Corrections and the U.S. The Platte County Sheriff's Department, as well as the Postal Inspectors-OIG.

Leadership academy

In the Leadership Academy at the Kansas City Police Department, officers develop the necessary skills and attributes to be a successful leader. Participants learn leadership skills, communicate well with others and gain valuable insight into the dynamic of law enforcement. They will also be involved in practical exercises that simulate real-world situations to improve their effectiveness as police officers. Police recruits can also learn how to handle six of the most common calls for services.

Arbinger, along with other prominent thinkers, will lead the workshop in Kansas City Police Department. The participants include KCPD department heads and FOP members. There are also some neutral participants. The workshop begins out hostile but soon becomes a welcoming environment. Participants stated that they gained a lot of knowledge from the program and are eager to use it in their own work.
